Admission Procedure

To apply for admission, applicants must complete and submit the following documents

- Admission Action Form

- AIT Application for Admission [Form 1]

- Two letters of recommendation from named referees [Form 2]

- Application for AIT Financial Aid [Form 3], only if applying for AIT financial aid

- Official attested transcript(s) [Form 4]

- Copy of degree certificate(s) in English

- Evidence of proficiency in English

- For MBA/MBA-Energy applicants, include following personal essays along with the application package:

> What are three most significant reasons for applying to AIT-SOM? (200 words)

> How will your career objectives be enhanced by pursuing MBA at AIT-SOM? (300 words)

> Describe one activity (not related to profession) in your life that you found most inspirational and why? (500 words)

> Describe your one single accomplishment that you feel proud of. (300 words)

- Acknowledgement Cards A & B

- Application Processing Fee of Baht 1000 ( non refundable)

 

This fee is to be paid to the “Asian Institute of Technology & Management” for processing the application during the submission of the completed application form. Please fill in the Application Processing Fee Payment Notification Form as a proof of payment. The payment is to be done by cash during the submission of the AITM application form.

-  Applications for admission must be received by the announced closing date. Late applications may be considered if and only if study seats are still available.

- Applicants are requested to apply to the program of their choice. If a seat in the programme of choice is not available, AITM, subject to its resources, the applicant’s qualifications and confirmation from AIT, will endeavor to provide an alternative program of study appropriate with the applicant’s needs and qualifications.

- The Admissions office acknowledges all complete applications by email. If an email address is not provided, applicants are acknowledged through postal mail.

 

Eligibility Requirements

Diversity is one of the key aspects considered during the admission process, so as to create a class of students with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. However, during the selection process, the Admission Committee evaluates all the candidates in terms of their:

- Scholastic and intellectual ability

- Personal character and motivation

- Interpersonal skills and leadership potential

- Career performance and managerial potential

Applicants should make sure that all information contained in the application is completely true. Admission offers might be revoked if any information provided during the admission process is found to be false in due course.

 

Academic Qualifications: Candidates

- Should have at least a Bachelor degree in engineering, science, economics, management, business, public administration or equivalent.

- Should meet the AIT English requirements (TOEFL paper based: 500 or equivalent; IELTS: 4.5) or submit the English Proficiency certificate.

- Should have minimum CGPA 2.75 in undergraduate degree.

- Minimum one year of relevant work experience.

- Must be in satisfactory physical and mental health and have a record of good conduct.

 

Work Experience: Preference would be given to applicants with a minimum of 3 years of work experience, although students with exceptional academic records might be considered even without having relevant work experience.

 

GMAT: A GMAT score is not mandatory. However the school expects candidates to report their GMAT Scores. Candidates with a GMAT score above 575 will be considered to have distinctive advantage.

 

Personal Essays: Applicants should include four personal essays along with the application package, mentioned in the admission procedure.

 

Letter of Recommendations: Applicants will have to provide two letters of recommendation from persons well acquainted with their intellectual abilities, academic performance, and personal character. One of these must be from a faculty member of the university/institution from where the applicant last attended.

 

Interviews: Generally, the application package will be the basis of selection. However, certain conditions i.e. candidates with excellent academic record but no work experience, AITM may call applicants for an interview to further assess their suitability to the program applied for.

 

Study Fees and Costs

This section gives an estimate of the costs and expenses a full-time student without financial aid should expect throughout the duration of his/her study program.

Master’s Level AITM programs, consists of the first year in AITM campus at Khumaltar Heights, Nepal and the second year at AIT, Thailand.

 

At AITM (Year 1)

Tuition and Fees: Students in full-time attendance pay a registration fee of Baht 20,000, a tuition fee of Baht 67,200 and AIT fees of Baht 16,800 per semester, totaling Baht 104,000 per semester for Year 1 . If the academic program is not completed within the prescribed duration, the registration fee of Baht 7,200 per semester is to be paid for each semester of extension.

 

AT AIT (Year 2)

Tuition and Fees: Students in full-time attendance pay a registration fee of Baht 20,000, a tuition fee of Baht 168,000 per semester, totaling Baht 188,000 per semester for Year 2 . If the academic program is not completed within the prescribed duration, the registration fee of Baht 7,200 per semester is to be paid for each semester of extension.

 

Living Costs:All students are encouraged to reside on or near the Institute’s campus to benefit from the international environment for intellectual development and personal growth. The estimated living expense is Baht 108,000 per year (estimated Baht 9000 per month) . Living expense may vary depending on individual lifestyles and needs.

 

Medical Insurance: There is an annual premium for standard insurance plan which covers certain costs of hospitalization, outpatient treatment, dental and personal accident but not major medical expenses.

 

Visa Extension: Baht 1,900 (Approx. 60 USD) per year of educational visa extension

 

Student Union Fee: Baht 150 (Approx. 5 USD) per semester as contribution to the Student Union and Student Welfare Fund. Please pay to the Cashier’s AIT Finance Department.

Fee Review: Fees are regularly reviewed. Approved changes become effective on the date stipulated.

 

The Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) reserves the right at any time to change or modify any aspect of information in this primer whenever, in its judgment, it becomes necessary or advisable to do so. As a result of the on-going process of consultations on the Institute academic reform, there may be changes in academic fees and other fees over time, which will become effective on the date stipulated.

 

Payment Advice

AITM MBA program consists of the first one year in AITM campus at Khumaltar Heights, Nepal and the later one year at AIT, Thailand.

At AITM (Year 1)In accepting the offer, an advance payment of Baht 112,400 equivalent to the registration fee. Tuition fee and AIT fee for the first semester should be paid to AITM prior to enrolment. The deadline of advanced payment is on the first day of the semester. Payment in Baht
Students are required to deposit the payment at Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) AIT Branch, or through ATM transfer from payee’s account to AIT’s bank account in SCB. After depositing the payment, please present the bank deposit/ATM slip with the details (name, student ID or applicant number and purpose of payment) to the Finance Cashier for the issuance of official receipt.

 

Financial Assistance

For the Master degree programs, AITM does not offer scholarships. AITM students can be eligible for 10% tuition fellowship in Year 2 at AIT, Thailand.
