Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. – John Dewey.
In 1996, Nepal Education Foundation (NEF) was established by a group of like-minded, experienced educationists, deeply committed to the cause of promoting quality education in Nepal, and believing in the innate urge for human beings to learn. The great Greek Philosopher, Aristotle, stated “All human beings, by nature, desire to learn”. NEF further believed in the importance of education to produce good men, who can act nobly, so appropriately stated by another famous Greek Philosopher, Plato “Education makes good men, and good men act nobly”. Guided by the gems of wisdom from the above two famous Greek philosophers, NEF proceeded to establish a number of educational institutions. In the very next year, 1997, three academic institutions – Bhanubhakta Memorial College (BMC), Little Angels’ College (LAC) and Xavier Academy (XA) – opened its academic portals under the umbrella of NEF.

Over the past 19+ years of operations, NEF colleges, namely LAC and XA, have been recognized for imparting quality education and have consistently been ranked among the top ten institutions for (10)+2 education.

NEF colleges currently offer a number of undergraduate programs in addition to (10)+2 programs.

These undergraduate programs are also highly sought after for their quality of teaching and learning. In 2010, two of the privately owned and managed NEF colleges, namely LA College and XA, combined with the Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), to form the Nepal Education Foundation – Consortium of Colleges, Nepal, now known by its acronym NEF-CCN. The main objective of forming this consortium was to create an entity that could become a national university by virtue of its physical facilities, academic programs and excellent academic track record. NEF-CCN long-term objective is to become a truly international university, with international programs, international faculty and students by 2020.

In order to be different and unique, NEF-CCN is building strategic alliances with reputable academic institutions in Asia and beyond to offer international academic programs, which can attract not only students from within the country but from South-Asia, South-east Asia and the rest of Asia and even from Australia, Europe and the Americas. NEF-CCN is fully committed be truly a center of academic excellence in Asia. In pursuit of its objective to be a “center of academic excellence”, NEF-CCN colleges have struck strategic academic partnerships with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, a very reputed academic institution of higher learning, in Asia, International Management Institute (IMI), Luzern, Switzerland, recently named as one of the top 50 hotel and hospitality management colleges in the world by CEOWorld and most recently ranked 17th out of the top 50 hospitality and leisure management schools (QS World University Ranking, 2017), SolBridge International Business School, Daejeon, S. Korea, one of the top 5% business schools in the world, Angelo State University, Texas, a reputed, medium-sized state university, and Strathclyde Business School, recently named by Times Higher Education in November 2016 as the UK Business School of the Year. NEF-CCN has also signed MoA with Mody University of Science and Technology, the premier girls’ university, located in Rajasthan, India, and with Panyapiwat Institute of Management, the first and largest corporate university in Nonthanburi, Thailand.

I would like to end this message with some inspiring quotations.

As someone put it so beautifully: “There is a time to let things happen and a time to make things happen”.

We believe in making things happen. As William A Petersen has stated “Decision is the spark that ignites action”. We have made the decision and we are now acting on this decision. Walt Disney rightly stated “All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them.” We hope to exhibit this courage to pursue our dreams. In the same vein, Goethe stated “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.” We agree with what Eleanor Roosevelt stated “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

We believe in the power of dreams and we believe in taking bold steps to achieve our dream of offering international programs in collaboration with academic institutions of international repute to eventually becoming an international university.
