AITM-IMI Graduation Ceremony-2017

Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), one of the best resourced hotel management schools in Nepal and the recipient of the “Second Best Hospitality/Tourism College Nepal-2014” conferred by Business Age magazine in 2014, and its Swiss academic partner, International Management Institute (IMI), which was ranked 17th out of 20 top hospitality and leisure management schools in the world by QS in its most recent world university ranking, are conducting the Graduation Ceremony for 51 students, who successfully completed the Higher Diploma in international Hotel and Tourism Management (HDHM), equivalent to the undergraduate Bachelor of Hotel Management, in 2015 and 2016. HDHM is an internationally recognized and accredited Swiss hotel and hospitality management degree program of IMI located in Luzern, Switzerland.

This Graduation Ceremony was conducted on Wednesday, 1st of November 2017 at Radisson Hotel in Kathmandu. The Graduation Ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sudarshan Raj Tiwari, Co-Chair of the Academic Council of AITM. The Ambassador of Switzerland, Mr. Joerg Frienden, was the Chief Guest during the function. Prof. Gavin R. R. Caldwell, Director of Operations, Human Resources & Partner Schools, was representing IMI and congratulating the graduates on behalf of IMI. Prof. Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, Chairman of AITM delivered the main graduation speech. Prof. Dr. Vincent X.H. Wu, Dean of Hainan College of Vocation and Technique (HCVT), AITM’s placement partner, also attended as an honored guest. The Board and Council Members of AITM will also be part of the procession.

The Graduation Ceremony was a very formal ceremony during which the graduates were conferred their degrees. During this ceremony, Mr. Rockey Maharjan and Ms. Christina Shrestha, who topped the two batches were awarded gold medals. Ms. Christina Shrestha spoke on behalf of the graduates.

The day before the Graduation Ceremony, Prof. Gavin R. R. Caldwell of IMI, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, Chairman of AITM, and Mr. Basant Joshi, Head of School of Hotel Management of AITM, paid a courtesy call on the Swiss Ambassador, to brief him about IMI-AITM academic collaboration and activities.

After the Graduation Ceremony, a tripartite meeting was held amongst AITM, IMI and HCVT representatives to discuss and explore the possibility of conducting various academic and value-added programs and internships. It must be mentioned here that many of our students have and will undertake internship in different five star hotels in Sanya, China through HCVT.
