“Irrigation Engineering” Field Visit for B.E. Civil 6th Semester Students Conducted

A three-day field visit of “Irrigation Engineering” course to “Phewa” and “Seti” irrigation projects in Pokhara, Kaski for B.E. Civil 6th semester students of AITM was conducted from September 03 (Sunday) to September 05 (Tuesday), 2017. Twenty-four students and two faculty/staff members participated in the field visit.
The primary objective of the field visit was to directly visualize different components and structures of typical irrigation facilities in Nepal by the students, and strengthen their theoretical knowledge on the subject. The field visit team left AITM in the morning of the 3rd September for Pokhara. They visited KEPY Cement Factory at Naubise on the way and reached Pokhara in the evening. The next day, the team visited Phewa irrigation facility and observed its components in the morning. They visited Seti irrigation facility and observed its components in the afternoon. The students went for sightseen in the morning of the third/final day, departed from Pokhara to Kathmandu before noon, arrived in Kathmandu in the late evening due to heavy traffic congestion on the way.
The field visit was extremely useful for the students as they could directly observe components of two irrigation facilities there and strengthened their classroom knowledge on the subject.
