AITM News and Events >> Hydropower Engineering Field Visit for B.E. Civil 7th Semester Students Completed

 
A three-day field visit of Marsyandi, Upper Modikhola and Lower Modikhola hydroelectric power plants for B.E. Civil 7th semester (Batch-2013) students of AITM was conducted from July 20 to 22, 2017. Total twenty-seven students and two faculty/staff members from AITM accompanied the students in the field visit. The team visited headworks and powerhouse of Lower Marsyandi hydroelectric power plant (in operation, owned by Nepal Electricity Authority) and reached Kushma, Parbat on the first day. Next morning, the team observed the suspension bridge over Kaligandi River, moved to Dimuwa, and observed components (including tunnel) of Lower Modikhola hydroelectric power plant (under construction, owned by Manang Trade Link Pvt. Ltd.). Then, it visited Upper Modikhola hydroelectric plant (operational, owned by Nepal Electricity Authority) site and observed its components. After a brief sightseeing in Pokhara in the morning, the team returned to Kathmandu on the third day (July 22, 2017). The visit was very fruitful to the students as they could directly observe different components of three hydropower stations & strengthened their theoretical classroom knowledge.
