The faculty members and the students Department of Biotechnology, AITM  participated in the World DNA Day program organized by Biotechnology Society of Nepal (BSN) on 24 and 25 April 2018 within premises of National Academy of Science and Technology Khumaltar, Lalitpur. Different research activities carried out by the Department of Biotechnology was displayed in the exhibition stall. Mr. Hari Krishna Saiju, Head, Department of Biotechnology gave an invited lecture on topic “Status of Plant biodiversity and Tissue culture in Nepal”. The fifth semester students participated in DNA model competition. Their model was awarded first prize in DNA model competition. The eighth semester students participated in the Poster Presentation on the topic ‘Guinea pig polyclonal antibodies production using synthetic peptides CAST, SIT1, GLTP and IL31RA as antigen, separation of immunoglobulin IgG and molecular weight analysis’. Dr. Mahesh Kumar Adhikari, Mushroom Expert of Nepal and senior faculty member of Department of Biotechnology, AITM was awarded Research Scientist Award for his contribution in the field of mycology in Nepal. Our Biotechnology students also worked as volunteers in the two day long program.
