The foundation of HPCIDBC lies in the joint initiation of citizen and government to make Bagmati a pollution free river. A Committee for Implementation & Monitoring of Environmental Improvement in Pasupathi Area was thus set up by Nepal Government on Chaitra 28, 2051. The main objective of this High powered Committee is to keep Bagmati River and its tributaries clean by preventing the direct discharge of solid and liquid wastes to the river and to conserve the river system within the Kathmandu. B. Tech Biotechnology students of 7th and 5th semester visited High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization (HPCIDBC) Water Treatment plant site at Guheswori on Sunday May 7, 2017 as field visit of the subject Environmental Biotechnology. The students were accompanied by two faculty members of the Department, Mr. Mahesh Maharjan and Mr. Abhishesh Bjracharya. The students were briefed about the procedures of sewerage water treatment and also briefed on the steps of process that carried out during treatment like collection, aeration and filtration.
