Special Talk Program on “Earthquake Resistant Design of Buildings”

On the initiative of Chairperson Prof. Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, the Department of Civil Engineering has launched “Civil Engineering Lecture Series” as a co-curricular activity for the benefit of the students. In this context, the first lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. PremNathMaskey (a well-known and reputed academician & consultant in“Structural Engineering” in Nepal & abroad) on 27th of December 2015.The title of the lecture was “Principles of Earthquake-Resistant Design of Buildings”. One hundred and twenty-four people, mostly students, attended this lecture. The lecture was followed by a question & answer session where students put forward their queries particularly on issues related to the recent earthquaks in Nepal. Before the lecture began, Prof. Mathe shed light on the importance of co-curricular activities and the need for the students to focus on their studies so as to achieve academic excellence.
