But why BSc CIT?

As stated in the premise, the world needs as many resource persons in the tech industry as possible. With the rapid digitization of every field, it is safe to assume that digital is the new norm and data is power. Cloud has replaced the need for physical drives, making the accessibility of your data much easier. With the help of AI and Machine Learning, industries have already seen a revolution in efficient production. Even working, where you do, has been possible from distance away with tools dedicated to remote work. Add to that, the phenomenon called the Internet Of Things that has, in a way made us lazy, but possible to communicate with daily essentials like fridges and lights. That has opened a separate domain of possibilities that is in the way to be used in all industries.

With such dynamics at work, the prospects of this field are endless. Keeping in mind all of these factors, the syllabus of this course has been designed such that you can explore all the different domains of this field in course of your study and choose what way you want to go. Be it analyzing big data and finding patterns in seemingly haphazard arrangements using Data Science, enforcing security to make the flow of data around the internet better through Cyber Security, or designing the very computer components through research on the Organization and Architecture of Computers, this degree offered by Birmingham City University, UK covers every aspect of this field to make you equipped with every bit of knowledge you would require to excel in your chosen field.

The prospects this industry presents today are incomparable. You can look around you at any working business or industry and it is amiss that you will find at least one technical person working to keep up the work there. From simple management of records and technical tools to large-scale automation, everything requires a resource person, trained in this domain. With such a driving force behind these technological adaptions, demand has grown exponentially for both jobs and individuals with the skills and knowledge which meet the needs of digitally transformed industries and sectors.

According to research by GlobalData in 2022, the FAANG companies – Facebook (Meta), Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google (Alphabet) – listed over 250,000 open job positions in 2021. That is a 44% increase over 2020. According to the research, the number of job postings for "big data" and "cloud" positions rose by 57% in 2021 compared to the previous year. More than twice as many people now work in fields related to "digital media," "digitalization," and "mobile." Other popular topics with lots of listings in 2021 were "AI" and "industrial automation."

Among those listings, the primary jobs that you could aim for after being graduated with this degree are

  1. Software Engineer

  2. Systems Analyst

  3. Business Analyst

  4. Technical Support

  5. UI/UX Designer

  6. Technical Consultant

  7. Technical Sales Manager

  8. Project Manager

  9. Web Developer

  10. Software Tester

  11. Graphic Designer

    and so on…

With all that out of the way, let’s talk about the numbers. An average tech graduate earns more than an average worker in any other field. More by how much? Let’s see. The following are the data taken from Indeed that show the average yearly income of some of the jobs that are listed above:

  1. Web developer: $79,231

  2. Software Engineer: $123,007

  3. Graphics Designer: $54,421

  4. Systems Engineer: $103,579

  5. Network Engineer: $91,466

  6. Data Scientist: $144,959

So if the insecurity about income after graduation is what is holding you back from taking a degree in this field, jump right into it. This course, BSc CIT, delivers you everything you need to make a headstart in the career you choose in this domain.

And why AITM?

AITM stands proud among the best college for computer science in Nepal. Even so, it is always hard to give reasons as to why someone should do one thing over the other. People have their preferences and biases. However, the decisions, no matter what the biases and preferences contribute to, should be made considering all the pros and cons of the respective choice.

AITM, one of the top 10 BSc. CSIT colleges in Nepal, is managed by experts in education and other fields with more than three decades of track record. With great instructors, top-notch infrastructure, and cutting-edge amenities, AITM has some of the best facilities in the nation. By collaborating with Birmingham City University in the UK, IMI University Center in Switzerland, and other internationally renowned academic institutions, AITM hopes to be a positive change agent for the country, the region, and the world. By doing so, it will be able to benefit from their extensive experience and demonstrated success in working in multinational and multicultural academic settings. The primary goal of providing international programmes in Nepal is to transform Nepalese higher education institutions into exceptional centres of learning, outfitted to support top-notch instruction, scholarship, and research, and to produce enlightened citizens with steadfast moral and ethical values. To offer worldwide academic programmes that may draw not just students from within the nation but also from Asia and beyond, AITM is forming strategic collaborations with respected academic institutions in Asia and beyond.

While that is what AITM believes in and has been doing, there have been several program-specific details that serve as an incentive to the students pursuing the BSc CIT degree.

1. Credit Transfer

If you have been the kind of person, frustrated with the kind of education you are currently getting in Nepal, we have you covered. Let's face it, foreign education is expensive. It takes a toll on the economy of your family, and as responsible children, you would like to minimize that. Compared to that, the cost of studying a CIT in Nepal is much less.

AITM brings you the best-in-class syllabus and a rewarding degree from a trusted foreign university, right at your doorstep. In addition, if you still want to experience their education, right at their place, then we even have a provision for an Exchange Program. We believe the program is bound to enable our students to thrive with newer challenges in a newer environment. Not only that, bringing in students from overseas as a part of the said program will allow the students here to experience and look at things from a newer perspective.

As an AITM student, you can opt-in for an exchange program through which you will be able to transfer your credit and continue your studies at Birmingham City University for the remaining part of your degree.

2. AITM Industry Connect Model

Nepal has been seeing some serious employment deficits in recent years. We are producing a large number of human resources each year only for them to be frustrated due to unemployment. This has rendered people to believe incompetence lies in them which has led to problems such as brain drain and even mental health problems.

As a solution, AITM has brought in a new initiative known as the AITM Industry Connect Model, which has not yet been implemented in any other IT colleges in Nepal. This initiative looks to bridge the gap between the academic and the corporate sectors by providing the students with the necessary skills along with education thereby preparing industry-ready graduates.

3. Training and Events

Should you choose to spend the 4 years of your undergraduate degree at AITM, we assure you that will not be limited only to classrooms. As we have repeatedly stated that we believe in redying students for life rather than exams, we have curated training packages and events that you will have access to once you are a student at AITM. This allows us to proudly say that we stand among the best BSc CSIT colleges in Kathmandu.

We have a team always willing to cater to your start-up ideas and take them to the market. Hult Prize, for instance, is one of the platforms available at AITM which contributes to the said cause. Adding to it, the world has been small and communication skills are needed now more than ever – the skill of Public Speaking is needed now more than ever. Be it presenting your thoughts, selling your service, or speaking in front of the mass, the skill of speaking always propels you forward. With sessions in the format of internationally acclaimed Toastmasters, AITM gives you the platform to explore the speaker within yourself and develop your personality so that you can be relevant in any place you go.

As an initiative to bring out the best in students, and to ensure that our students remain mentally healthy so that they can bring out their best, we regularly organize motivation programs.

Also, feeling the need for different skills relevant to the current times, AITM has begun an initiative with the name of AITM Skill Academy, which aims to guide students to find their passion and develop the same skill.

4. Global Industry Certifications

Coming to this point, we have seen many changes embraced by industry experts. Specializing in a single field doesn’t fare well in today’s time. To ensure that we do not leave any tiles unturned in giving our students the best education in terms of every possible aspect, we have brought certificate courses that will be delivered by the industry practitioners themselves. We believe these certification courses will enable students in developing the skills that they precisely want and aid in refreshing the college curriculum, all while enhancing the employment prospects of the students.

Currently, we are providing five courses that our students can get certified in.

  1. Blockchain Foundations

  2. Cyber Security

  3. Data Visualization (using Power BI and Tableau)

Note that these courses with certifications do not require any additional fees and are provided by AITM College free of cost.

ECA at AITM

The AITM sponsors numerous events throughout the year to engage students and their intellectuals on various levels. Football, futsal, basketball, and other indoor game competitions are just a few of the sporting activities we host. Sports are a great way to decompress from daily stress and socialise, so we think that participating in these activities will help students get to know one another better while also improving their health. Our competitions are usually accompanied by awards for the winners to encourage participation and foster a spirit of sportsmanship. To teach the management of such events, we involve our students as organizers through the student-led Sports Club as well.

Prom Nights and the Welcome and Farewell programs are other yearly events to keep an eye out for. Additionally, the college hosts several intercollegiate art competitions as well as other cultural events.
AITM has established official relationships with various business houses both inside and beyond the Kathmandu valley to allow the students to visit companies and regions recognised for innovative business methods.
